Dominika B.: Death by little boxes

They had been building a house for a couple of years and wanting to move for, well, a couple of years. Meanwhile, a patchwork family (4+1 every other weekend) was dutifully squeezing into a two-room flat.
After two children (and so on), Dominika found herself face to face with a magnificent chaos in the cupboards. This flat was a full house.
prieSTORY's task was to move the family into the new house by Christmas. Together we pictured it: this Christmas, the family would be at the HOUSE. That's how it would be, full stop.
We planned, sorted and set up a system so the move could happen without trauma. Dominika had two heavy boulders on her shoulders, one from the past and one from the future. What do you think, did we help her carry them off?
First came the wardrobe, because decluttering is best started with yourself (Slovak has no word for decluttering, so we had to invent one). We set up a decision-making system and things moved fast.
And the children? Do they have somewhere to play? Yes, they do, because we think of the youngest too. A creative corner in the living room and a minimalist toy set in the kids' room served the wild ideas nicely while the family was in motion between the old home and the new.
We put together a survival kit of the bare minimum that stayed in the flat's cupboards and packed everything else into boxes, systematically. Anything still useful went where it was needed.
The result: the physical and mental relocation of the whole family was under control, Dominika could see a clear system, and everything was ready for a quick, organised move. The remaining boxes, off to the house, every one labelled with where it belongs. Because the last thing you want is to be looking for towels in the bookcase.
A move is project management. And it deserves arrangement. The boulders from Dominika's shoulders have long been tossed into a ditch somewhere, and nobody even remembers there was a move at all.
